- the fact that he refused to take another AI not just because of the trauma of epsilon, but because he was keeping his revenge plans a secret from command. and how he didn't care about killing alpha, or hosting alpha in the end, because he didn't intend to survive the encounter at all.
- and then whoops he didn't die there, and had to.... deal with being still alive when he was really only living out of spite, biding his time to get revenge. and how his guilt at killing the AI and frustration he's alive and anger at his imprisonment all informed his sliding into the villain role in seasons 7 and 8.
- how he slips into leader mode to regain control over situations in no small part for his own benefit. he's not an actual control freak, though, since when someone calls him out he immediately steps back and re-evaluates his approach. he's ultimately trying to be helpful.
- that wash doesn't actually blame epsilon for what happened to him, epsilon seems to hate him on sight and then later resents him for several valid reasons but he still manages to coexist on a team with the AI that drove him insane and is consistently hostile towards him now.
- resilience and adaptability, and how wash always bounces back... just sometimes a little different from how he was before.
